Unlike quartz or natural stone, Solid Surface has a homogenous composition, meaning the color and pattern run all the way through the material. Minor scratches and scorch marks can be easily buffed out using a mild abrasive pad (like Scotch-Brite) or fine-grit sandpaper. Deep gashes can even be seamlessly repaired by a professional using a matching piece of material.
Solid Surface has good heat resistance, but you should ALWAYS use a trivet or hot pad. While it complies with industry standards for heat exposure, direct contact with extremely hot cookware (above 100°C / 212°F) straight from the stove or oven can cause the acrylic resins to warp, crack, or discolor. Always place hot pots, pans, or heat-generating appliances (like air fryers or slow cookers) on a protective surface.
